SPRING IS FOR DARK BROWN SUEDES

May 02, 2015

Suede shoes are a great option for bridging the gap between formal and casual shoes. They can take a more dressed up look down a notch or kick a more casual look up a notch. And when dress shoes feel a little over the top and sneakers a bit too casual, a suede shoe is the perfect choice. An added benefit is that suede always adds a unique touch to a look and shows that you take the time to consider your style in an understated and classy way.

There is a long tradition of men wearing brown suede shoes with suits paired with a blue shirt. The most notable advocate was Edward, the Duke of Windsor, for whom brown suede shoes became a signature of his dress. He made suede shoes popular in the 1920s by wearing them with a sporty suit. He also chose to wear dark brown suede oxfords with a navy or grey suit, which quickly became a trend.

Other than in the rain or snow, there really is never a bad time or season to wear suede shoes. Springtime and suede always seem like they were made for each other. Don’t be surprised if you see men walking downtown wearing Dack’s dark brown suede Caine oxford this spring and summer. So to celebrate the arrival of spring, here are three examples of how you might pair dark brown suede shoes with a springtime look:

Suit Colours: Blues, greys, browns, olives and tans

Suit Patterns: Stripes, windowpanes, plaids, checks and solids

Suit Fabrics: Wool, linen, seersucker and cotton twill

Dack's dark brown suede Caine oxford is not only here to stay but it is destined to become your favourite shoe once you experience its unique style.

Shoe Width

Our standard shoe width is an F fitting. However, in order to accommodate variations in foot size, alternative width fittings are available in certain styles.

Narrow Fit = D width (USA E Fit)

Standard or Average Fit = F width (USA EE Fit)

Wide Fit = G width (USA EEE Fit)

Extra Wide Fit = H width (USA EEEE Fit)

As a shoe increases in size, the length and width both increase. A size 10F shoe is therefore one size bigger and one size wider than a size 9F shoe. A size 9G shoe is a size wider than a size 9F - in other words the width of the shoe would roughly correspond to a size 10F.

In the table below, the 11D, the 10F, the 9G and 8H would all be roughly the same width.

Shoe size D Fit F Fit G Fit H Fit
11 X
10 Y X
9 Z Y X
8 Z Y X
7 Z Y
6 Z
